One day my Auntie Shirley
asked me if I could draw her
family’s heirloom, the famous
Manu'iwa, an all Koa  wood
Hawaiian racing canoe.  

After sitting in the canoe for
awhile, I was so impressed
with the canoe's craftsmanship
that for the first time in my life I
started to doubt my artistic
skills!

Sensing that, Auntie Shirley
put her arms around me and
said “ No worry, Uncle Stew
will guide you!”  

Then one sleepless night he
